The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Utah School of Medicine is seeking 2 pediatric gastroenterologists, at the Assistant, Associate Professor, or Professor level. Board certification in Pediatrics and BC/BE in Pediatric Gastroenterology are mandatory. Excellent procedural and clinical skills are required. Salaries are competitive, and the quality of benefits surpass most available in private practice. Our division is currently made up of 4 pediatric gastroenterolgists and 2 nurse practitioners. Weekend call is currently shared by 6 pediatric gastroenterologists.

Active clinical programs in the Division include hepatology and liver transplantation, a comprehensive nutrition clinic, dysphagia and feeding disorders, inflammatory bowel disease, and general pediatric GI. Ongoing research initiatives include eosinophilic esophagitis, celiac disease, and inflammatory bowel disease. |

Candidates with a research background will be considered for an NIH- funded Children's Health Research Center Career Development Award (K12), with the expectation that extramural funding will be obtained. Existing research programs at the University include the Eccles Institute of Human Genetics, the Utah Center for Genome Research, the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, and the Huntsman Cancer Institute. These facilities have numerous related supportive core facilities such as DNA sequencing, homologous recombination-transgenic animal and high throughput robotics and many other cores that facilitate advanced investigations into basic biology.
Clinical activities are carried out at Primary Children's Medical Center, a 232-bed hospital which is consistently ranked among the top children's hospitals in the United States. This is a freestanding children’s hospital located on the Medical Center campus. Plans are underway for an expansion to 320 beds within the next 5-6 years. Primary Children's service area includes the states of Utah, Idaho, Wyoming, Nevada and Montana. This area encompasses about 400,000 square miles. |
