Pediatric Hematologist-Oncologists


The Division of Pediatric Hematology-Oncology at the University of Utah is seeking 2-3 additional pediatric hematologists-oncologists to engage in patient care, teaching and clinical and/or translational research within our program. The positions will be at the academic level commensurate with experience and qualifications and complement 11 full time faculty currently engaged in basic, clinical and translational research, teaching and patient care. The division provides state of the art care in a tertiary-care freestanding pediatric teaching hospital physically associated with the University of Utah Hospital and the Huntsman Cancer Institute. We are an active member of COG providing comprehensive care for approximately 150 children newly diagnosed with cancer each year. Our pediatric transplant service performs approximately 35 transplants annually. We have active hematology, hemophilia and thrombophilia programs. The division has a dynamic basic research program with extensive extramural support, and clinical research programs in the areas of pediatric cancer including high risk sarcomas, leukemias/lymphomas and brain tumors; as well as ongoing studies in thrombophilia; supportive care; pharmacokinetics and long term outcomes. The Huntsman Cancer Institute and the University of Utah provide outstanding facilities for basic and translational research in cancer and related areas.

Pediatric Hematology/Oncology-HCI Research Positions

The University of Utah is seeking applicants for two faculty positions in the Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology and the Huntsman Cancer Institute. Successful candidates will have established, robust, basic or translational research programs focusing on pediatric cancer, complementing current strengths in the Division and Institute. Candidates may hold MD and/or PhD degrees. Faculty members will be expected to participate in the academic environment at the University, and qualified individuals may participate in the clinical environment of the Division as well. Academic rank will be based on applicant’s qualifications. Opportunities for joint appointments in basic science departments are available. The Huntsman Cancer Institute is the University of Utah’s NCI-Designated Cancer Center, and serves as its focal point for cancer-focused research. Primary Children’s Medical Center is physically associated with the University Hospital and the Huntsman Cancer Institute, and is a member of the Children’s Oncology Group, providing comprehensive care for 150 children newly diagnosed with cancer each year.
