Environmental Monitoring Equipment Technologist (One Position):


Assures sample collection equipment is properly maintained and available for use by the environmental monitoring staff.

  • Checks the equipment each time it arrives in the lab to assure it is working as specified by the manufacturer.
  • Assures equipment is in good repair and ready for use at all times.
  • Repairs equipment as able and replaces parts (rechargeable batteries, tubing, etc.) as needed.
  • Keeps equipment properly cleaned between uses.
  • Identifies when additional maintenance is necessary and ships equipment to manufacturer (for repair or calibration).
  • Maintains computer records on reliability and maintenance of all equipment used for monitoring.

Position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, Health Science or related field, or equivalency; plus one year experience working with small, sensitive equipment, preferably environmental monitoring equipment. Must have knowledge in acceptable methods for calibrating monitoring instruments and with methods for increasing longevity of rechargeable batteries; and ability to use computer spreadsheet programs for input, storage and retrieval of equipment information.
