Environmental Monitoring Specialists (Multiple Positions):


Serves as a technical expert in environmental monitoring. Assures acceptability and uniformity in methodology used for various types of monitoring, documentation of activities, quality of data generated, and written reports.

  • Collects air, surface (dust), water, soil and food samples for environmental analyses.
  • Collects special samples as necessary (e.g. quality control samples)
  • Identifies when samples should not be collected due to potential interferences (e.g., recent cleaning of area with a mixture that could interfere with monitoring results).
  • Records all applicable monitoring information ensuring legal sufficiency of data.
  • Coordinates and reviews the work activities of other environmental monitoring staff.

Position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, Biology, Chemistry, Engineering, Health Science or related field, or equivalency. Must have knowledge in monitoring methods, government regulations and current environmental monitoring sampling methodology and strategies; some environmental monitoring experience preferred. May be required to work non-traditional work hours.
