Serves as both a technical expert in environmental monitoring and manager over other environmental monitoring staff. Assures acceptability and uniformity in methodology used for various types of monitoring, documentation of activities, quality of data generated, and written reports.
- Assists the Environmental Monitoring Manager in accomplishing Study objectives.
- Identifies and prioritizes areas for evaluation, determines sampling strategy, selection and use of sampling equipment.
- Provides supervision, expert advice, and direction on environmental monitoring matters.
- Trains and coordinates the work activities of environmental monitoring staff.
- Reviews quality of work to include adherence to standard operating procedures.
- May collect air, surface (dust), water, soil and food samples for environmental analyses recording all applicable monitoring information.
Position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, Biology, Chemistry, Engineering, Health Science or related field, or equivalency; plus one year supervisory experience, preferably managing environmental monitoring collection teams. Must have experience and knowledge in monitoring methods, government regulations and current environmental monitoring sampling methodology and strategies. May be required to work non-traditional work hours.
