Tri-County Community Liaison


The National Children’s Study (NCS) will be coming to Lincoln and Uinta Counties, Wyoming and Bear Lake County, Idaho soon (these 3 study locations are referred to as Tri-County). We are looking for a Community Liaison to help increase awareness and understanding of the objectives and goals of the NCS. The Community Liaison will work closely with the Director of Community Relations at the NCS Utah Vanguard Center. Responsibilities include:

  • Acting as an effective catalyst between the Lincoln, Uinta and Bear Lake site, the Utah Vanguard Center, supporting agencies, and study participants to ensure communication, quality of service and care meets the NCS objectives and goals.
  • Serving as part of the operational team; traveling throughout the Tri-County region to attend operational meetings; traveling to Salt Lake to interact with the NCS Utah Vanguard Center team; represents the Lincoln, Uinta, Bear Lake NCS site at community meetings and attends community wide events that are beneficial to the Tri-County study site.
  • Developing, planning and implementing communication and outreach strategies to Tri-County region’s populations in an effort to increase awareness and an understanding of the objectives and goals of the NCS.
  • Identifying and collaborating with community liaisons from the other two study sites that make up the Tri-County study location. Co-facilitates Community Advisory Board meetings for the Tri-County study location and serves as point of contact for Community Advisory Board members from Lincoln, Uinta and Bear Lake Counties.
  • Serving as the liaison to the Lincoln, Uinta and Bear Lake communities and ethnic populations to develop cooperative and collaborative relationships, community partnerships, and to identify families (within the segment boundaries) willing to participate in the NCS.

The requirements are:

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, related field or equivalency
  • Four years experience in public and/or community relations and outreach.
  • Effective communication and public speaking skills
  • Demonstrated leadership skills to work well with people at all levels
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with diverse and multi-cultural populations
  • Ability to travel throughout Tri-County region, to Logan and Salt Lake City, and other travel as needed (mileage will be reimbursed.)

A Master’s degree in a related field, and work experience in an organization that does research or in a government or non-profit organization preferred.

The Community Liaison will be a University of Utah employee. We offer excellent benefits and competitive wages. This is a 20-hour per week position with the potential to increase as the NCS progresses.
