Hospital Emerency Codes

Code Pink- Infant or child abduction
Code Red- Fire
 
 
  • All staff should report to the closest exit.
  • Monitor area for suspicious persons.
  • Make note of any suspicious persons.
  • Do not physically restrain anyone.
 
  • Rescue anyone in danger.
  • Activate the fire alarm.
  • Contain the fire if possible by shutting doors and windows.
  • Extinguish the fire or Evacuate if the fire threatens personal saftey.
 
 
PCH Code Blue- Cardiac or respiratory arrest
 
University Code Purple- Security emergency
 
 
  • If trained, perform CPR and ask someone to call 2222.


 
  • There is an eminent danger to the safety or well being of any staff, patient, visitor or individual unit. Call 1-2222.
 
  PCH Code Yellow- Bomb Threat   University Code Yellow- Disaster  
 
  • If you receive a bomb threat over the phone:
  • Remain calm. Keep the caller on the line as long as possible.
  • Without distracting the caller have someone else call 2222.
  • Get as much information as possible from the caller.
 
  • Fill out department status report form and take it to SOM 1889.
  • Inpatient units and clinics will turn on their Motorola radios.
  • Activate disaster phone tree.
