Fellowships
Cardiology Fellowship
The goal of the University of Utah Pediatric Cardiology Fellowship training program is to prepare trainees for careers in academic pediatric cardiology. Our program provides comprehensive exposure to and training in all of the aspects of pediatric cardiology. We are the only comprehensive pediatric cardiology program in the Intermountain West. We have an average of 8,000 patient visits per year, perform over 6,000 echocardiograms per year and have a catheterization volume of more than 500 cases per year. Our fetal echocardiography program and cardiac MRI program are expanding with subspecialists and a dedicated cardiac MRI scanner. The full spectrum of catheterization and electrophysiological interventions are available including state-of-the-art interventional catheterization procedures, radiofrequency and cryoablation, advanced mapping techniques, pacemaker, and ICD implantation.
We have 19 full time faculty members, representing all of the subsections of pediatric cardiology, and have two pediatric cardiovascular surgeons. We have four cardiothoracic surgeons and the sugical volume exceeds 500 cases per year encompassing all of the state-of-the-art procedures for the correction and palliation of congenital heart disease in neonates, children, and adults. The fellowship program is structured toward the development of an academic cardiology career. This is accomplished because there is ample clinical volume and protected time for dedicated basic science or clinical research.
