Fellowships
Infectious Diseases Fellowship
Despite effective vaccines and antimicrobial medications, infectious diseases remain a major cause of hospitalization and outpatient visits for young children. The Infectious Disease fellowship at the University of Utah is structured to provide trainees with a comprehensive, rigorous exposure to infectious diseases of infants, children, and adolescents. The fellowship is a two or three-year experience that prepares trainees for academic careers. The program benefits from abundant inpatient and outpatient referrals to Primary Children’s Medical Center, the main site for clinical training. Trainees have opportunities for clinical or bench research and can work with clinical microbiologists and molecular pathologists at Associated Regional University Pathologists (ARUP) Laboratories, one of the nation’s premier reference laboratories located on the research campus of the University of Utah.
